This Spring issue of the of the Kent Political Almanac is now online!
You can find it here:
This issue is special for two reasons: it is not only the journal’s first publication, but we also have been privileged to launch it jointly with the Global Europe Centre, University of Kent. We therefore decided to make this special issue focused on the theme of “Europe in the World”, in its first printed edition.
The articles in this issue were submitted for publication by students in response to our call for papers in February 2014.
We would like to thank all of the authors who contributed to this first issue. All articles were then reviewed by members of staff from the School of Politics and International Relations, to whom we are very grateful to. Our special thanks go to the Global Europe Centre, and particularly to Professor Elena Korosteleva, whose support has been pivotal to the journal’s launch. We also would like to acknowledge the support of the European Parliament office in London, for helping us to publish this first edition.
We hope that you will enjoy reading this very special issue of the Kent Political Almanac.

The Kent Political Almanac (KPA) is calling for submissions for its spring edition. The journal offers an exciting opportunity for undergraduate students to have their essays published in a peer-reviewed journal supported by the School of Politics and International Relations. Having an essay published provides significant merit for those who seek to pursue post-graduate studies or employment in political journalism.
The spring issue of the KPA will be launched in cooperation with the Global Europe Centre, and as such we would particularly welcome essays with a focus on Europe and the European Union. More specifically, the theme for this special issue will be: “Europe in the World”. We would therefore encourage submissions to be related to this theme. We will also accept postgraduate in addition to undergraduate work.
However, we also accept and consider essays on other topics in the fields of politics and international relations.
In order to be considered for publishing, essays should have attained a mark of 65% or above, conform to a world limit of 3500 words, and employ the Chicago Manual of Style (CMS) system of referencing. Essays with sub-headings are preferred. Please see the Submission Guidelines and Requirements for more details.
Should you wish to submit an essay that only conformed to mark and word limit requirements in its submitted edition, KPA accepts essays that have been formatted after submission to use CMS and sub-headings.
Submissions need to be sent to kentpoliticalalmanac@gmail.com by Saturday 22nd February. If you have any questions, please get in touch.
We would encourage all students to take this opportunity, and look forward to reviewing your submissions!
Kind Regards,
The Editors
